Autumn in Vallesinella: How to Visit the Waterfalls and Trail Updates
The roar of the water plunging through the karst rocks and the colors of the forest turning to ochre and copper make the landscape unique. Autumn at the Vallesinella Waterfalls, in the heart of the Parco Naturale Adamello Brenta, offers a suspended atmosphere, far from the lively pace of August. However, for those planning a hike during this period, it is essential to be aware of some important logistical changes.
From summer mobility to autumn rules
During the warmer months, access to the Vallesinella valley is strictly managed to protect the delicate ecosystem, with mandatory shuttle buses and restrictions on vehicular traffic. With the arrival of autumn, the rules change. The summer shuttle services have ended, allowing independent access, but high-altitude road conditions are closely linked to the weather, which changes rapidly in October. It is good practice to check if the road is open before driving up to the parking area.
Attention to ongoing works: closed trails
A crucial detail for the current season (October 2026) concerns the forestry works for trail safety maintenance.
Consequently, the classic complete loop trail for the Cascate di Mezzo is not feasible in these weeks. We suggest studying alternative routes on the local map and checking the updated notices from the Park.
Lifts: summer season ended
If you are thinking of combining a visit to the waterfalls with a high-altitude hike towards the mountain huts of the Dolomiti di Brenta, please note that the Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo cable cars closed for the summer season between September 13 and 20, 2026. Any upward itineraries will have to rely solely on your own legs starting from the valley floor, carefully calculating the travel times and available daylight hours.
Before lacing up your boots to explore the wonders of water and dolomite rock, we recommend checking the actual status of the trails in advance at the tourist offices. Autumn in the mountains requires caution, but it rewards you with unparalleled tranquility.
